In the beginning, there was only darkness, vast and silent, wrapping the void in its cold embrace. But from this nothingness, the Most High brought forth the Golden Egg, within which lay Rod, the Forefather of all that is, was, and ever shall be.
From within his divine prison, Rod gave birth to Love itself—Lada, the Mother. And wielding the boundless power of this love, he shattered the shell of his confinement. With that single, resonant act of will, the Universe was born: an infinite expanse of starry worlds, and amongst them, our own earthly home.
Then did the Sun blaze forth from His face; the bright Moon shone from His chest; the countless stars glittered from His eyes; the radiant dawns broke from His brows. The dark nights were born of His deep thoughts, and the wild, furious winds from His very breath. Thus, Rod brought forth all that surrounds us—all that came from Rod, which we call Nature. He separated the visible world, the world of what is made manifest, which we call Yav, from the invisible realm of spirit, from Nav. Rod set Truth apart from Falsehood.
Upon a flaming chariot, Rod established the rolling Thunder. He set the Sun-god Ra, who had emerged from His face, upon a golden barque, and the Moon upon a silver one. Then Rod breathed forth from His own mouth the Spirit of God, the great Bird-Mother Sva. And from this Divine Spirit, Rod begat Svarog, the Heavenly Father.
It was Svarog who brought the work of creation to its culmination. He became the master of the earthly realm and the sovereign of the Divine Kingdom. He set firm twelve mighty pillars to uphold the vault of heaven.
From the very Word of the Most High, Rod fashioned the god Barma, who chanted prayers and hymns of praise, and began to recite the ancient Vedas. He also gave life to the spirit of Barma, his consort, Tarusa.
Rod became the Heavenly Spring, from which the waters of the Great Ocean flowed forth. From the foam of those waters, the World Duck was born, and from her came a host of gods—the Yasuni—and the demons known as Dasuni. Rod then brought forth the Cow Zemun and the Goat Sedun; from their udders, milk poured out, forming the luminous path we call the Milky Way. Finally, He created the stone Alatyr, and with it, He began to churn that cosmic milk. From the butter that was produced by this endless churning, the Mother of the Damp Earth was at last created.
